A food tasting is when they sit down with the caterer and try multiple different food options so they can decide what type of food they would want on their wedding day. For the bride, this is called the bachelorette party and for the groom, this is call the bachelor party. For that night, the bride and groom go their separate ways with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The bachelor and bachelorette party are considered the last night being “single” because the very next day, they will be promising to stay together with the other for the rest of their lives. Some people go all out with these parties and go to vegas or somewhere like that to celebrate. Other might prefer a more calm celebration and maybe just going out to a winery. It all depends on what the bride and groom prefer. If they are planning on going all out with their celebration, then things must be planned and booked ahead of time. A major issue that is occurring in America is a phenomena known as “food deserts”, most are located in urban areas and it's difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food. Whereas in the past, food deserts were thought to be solved with just placing a grocery store in the area, but with times it has become an issue that people are not picking the best nutritional option. This issue is not only making grocery store in food deserts are practically useless and not really eliminating the issue of food deserts because even when they are given a better nutritional option, and people are not taking it. In my perspective, it takes more than a grocery store to eliminate ‘food deserts’. It's more about demonstrating the good of picking the nutritional option and how it can help them and their families. For example, “Those who live in these areas are often subject to poor diets as a result and are at a greater risk of becoming obese or developing chronic diseases.”(Corapi, 2014).

Nutritionism and Today’s Diet Nutritionism is the ideology that the nutritional value of a food is the sum of all its individual nutrients, vitamins, and other components. In the book, “In Defense of Food” by Michael Pollan, he critiques scientists and government recommendations about their nutritional advice. Pollan presents a strong case pointing out the many flaws and problems that have risen over the years of following scientific studies and government related warnings on the proper amount of nutrients needed for a healthy diet. Pollan’s main point is introducing science into our food system has had more of a negative impact than a positive one, we should go back to eating more of a traditional diet. America is a capitalist society. It should come to a surprise when we live like this daily. We work for profit. We’ll buy either for pleasure or to sell later for profit. It should come to no surprise that our food is made the same way because we are what we eat. We are capitalist that eat a capitalist meal. So we must question our politics. Is our government system to blame for accepting and encouraging monopolies?

Throwing rice has become obsolete now due to harm to the animals and has been replaced by rose petals, bird seed and bubbles. Another tradition at the end of the ceremony that is interesting to know and I do not see any longer is the “making of noise”. This was thought to believe if loud noises were made by the guest, when the couple left, it would keep spirits away. How can this tradition be done with so many getting married at those “Destination Weddings”. I suppose they could stomp in the sand as the couple walks away.

White flowers with silver sparkles adorn the tables to add a final touch. The lights are dimmed low and classical music plays in the background to create a placid atmosphere. A savory aroma fills the room making me crave the chef’s fine platter. The host leads my party to a table and offers us drinks. As we wait for dinner to begin, murmurs fill the room with general conversation.

For example, I am married to a man who was born in the year of the cat, and I was born in the year of the pig. We therefore are two of three matched ages including pig, cat, and goat, so the best time for our wedding is the time of goat. Moreover, before the wedding day, the groom’s family would make a trip to the bride’s home to inform the best date for the wedding ceremony. After wedding date was informed, bride and groom start sending invitations to their guests. Vietnamese wedding uses lunar calendar for the ceremony and invitations for their guests at the wedding parties, even though people in Vietnam use both western and lunar calendars. On the other hand, Americans prepare their weddings by the most favorable day for both bride and groom which mostly happen on the weekend. Many American brides also have bridal showers before their weddings. For example, my next door neighbor in America had a bridal shower about more than one month before her wedding. My favorite meal is the chicken fettuccini pasta. I chose this dish because I can never stop eating it. The meal is made up of warm tenderized chunks of chicken, delicate smooth creamy white sauce, and many varieties of sliced up vegetables. However, when I was a child vegetables has always been difficult to eat. It prevented me from enjoying my favorite meal because I would always have to take out the mixed vegetables in the meal. As a child I 've tried avoiding vegetables, but was found throughout the school cafeteria 's food, my mother 's cooking, or many fancy restaurants. There was nowhere to run. Over the years, my mother knew I was struggling to eat vegetables. She worked very hard by coming up with her own recipes in order for me to eat healthy. From mixing in the vegetables into the meals I usually eat or to trick me into eating meat but was actually vegetables. Soon later I came to realize how much effort she has put into the meals. All those hour and hard work my mother put it allowed me to enjoy my favorite meal again.
