“It's so easy to manipulate an audience, but it's nearly always clear that you are being manipulated. I think even people that are not critically attuned are aware of cynical manipulation in film” this is a quote from John Boorman about audience manipulation. There are a lot of ways to manipulate an audience. For example, the lighting in a film and the camera angles sounds and all times of other things. I am going explain how the filmmaker can manipulate you and make you feel a particular kind of way about the film. camera angles can change a mood or scene in the movie brother bear one of the main charter Kenai is fighting a bear and his brother Denahi and Sitka. when the brothers get there the camera zooms out and goes back in really quick and you are looking form the eyes of Kenai as he is under an angry bear. The camera is shaking as Kenai is struggling and this makes you feel like you are right under the bear yourself. As Kenai the struggling with the bear his brother Denahi is throwing rocks at the bear and the camera is going back and forth form Kenai and Denahi the bear runs at Denahi and knocks him down into a hole and Sitka brakes the ice with his spear and all the ice brakes. Ice goes every were and Sitka falls in the ice and the camera goings dark and it makes you feel scared and worried about what is happing. Colors and change a scene if you use bright color that means the scene is happy or joyful and if you use dark color that means the scene is sad. For example, in the movie wizard of Oz the first part of the movie is dark not a lot of color. Then the tornado comes and when the main charter Dorothy lands in the land of Oz then scene comes alive with all kinds of lovely color. In the first part of the movie there is not color and things are not so well then she winds up in Oz and things start to get happy or with all the colors make the scene happy. A close up shot can be a really game changer because it shows how the actor is feeling and the expression on their face. Tons of movies use close up shots and eyelevel shots and low angle shots and dolly shot to help you understand and feel like what you are watching is easy.
