Imagine you are stuck in a difficult situation where you were desperate for help. Three inspirational people went through the exact same situation. Annie Johnson from New Directions, endured a divorce and had very little money. Farah Ahmedi survived a landmine and crossed the border with one leg. Ernesto Galarza moved to a whole new country without knowing the language. Inspirational people often undergo extraordinary missions due to circumstances, events, and challenges. One person was motivated to take mission was Ernesto Galarza from the story Barrio Boy. In paragraph one, the text states,”It was a new building, painted yellow, with a shingled roof that was not like the red tile of the school in Mazatlán. In paragraph 3, the text states,”In the thickening dusk we could hear the dull roar of people still trying to get past the border guards, but we receded into the desert, farther and farther back from the border gate.” Farah was beginning to lose hope in her mission of crossing the border to Pakistan. She overcomes this in paragraph 7, when the text states,”way across the border. He was checking out a goat path that supposedly went over the mountains several miles northeast of the border station. If one could get to Pakistan safely by that route, he would come back for his family. “You can go with us,” the woman said.” Farah becomes hopeful because she finds someone who is willing to help cross the border. Lastly, in paragraph 12, the text states,”Her family used my example to chide her. They kept saying, “Look at that girl. She’s missing a leg, and yet she’s going faster than you. Why can’t you keep up? Hurry now!” Farah has endured incredible challenges like losing her leg and not being able to cross the border. Farah is a refugee who overcame her difficult circumstances. In paragraph 1, the text states,”Annie Johnson of Arkansas found herself with two toddling sons, very little money, a slight ability to read and add simple numbers. To this picture add a disastrous marriage and the burdensome fact that Mrs. Johnson was a Negro.” Annie is put into difficult circumstances where is trying to find a way to help her family when they are in a rough time. In paragraph 3, the text states,”she would not go to work as a domestic and leave her "precious babes" to anyone else's care.’She told herself that she wasn't a fancy cook but that she could "mix groceries well enough to scare hungry away and from starving a man." Annie makes the best out of her situation and decides she will make her own path. She uses her talents to help her make money. Lastly, in paragraph 10, the text states, “cut herself a brand-new path. In years that stall became a store where customers could buy cheese, meal, syrup, cookies, candy, writing tablets, pickles, canned goods, fresh fruit, soft drinks, coal oil, and leather soles for worn-out shoes.” This shows due to Annie’s hard work and determination, she was able to build a business out of nothing.
