Fair Test Essay

This experiment would be considered a fair test as the variables were controlled; the same ball in the same condition was used, it was dropped from the same height each time, no additional external force acted upon it and the accuracy of the readings were consistent. However there were a few minor elements which may have altered the results such the test no being done on the different days. This would have had a minor effect as the temperature alters the elasticity of rubber and causes wood and concrete to expand and contract. 10.2 Error Analysis Data such the inconsistency that can be seen when looking at the foam ball colliding with the wood surface, can be caused by elements of human error or unfair testing, such as the ball hitting the …show more content…

This hypothesises is correct for the tennis and hand ball but it was also found that the type of material the ball and the surface effects the height the ball rebounds to. This is shown when the ping pong ball and the foam ball was dropped onto the lino. 10.4 Recommendations This experiment could be improved doing the experiment on the same day as that would then make hundred percent a fair test. It could further be improved by using a height scale on a wall for more accuracy when reading the results along with this, the experiment could be extended by changing the height to measure whether the ball rebounds to similar height again. CONCLUSION The aim of this experiment was to investigate the bounce efficiency by studying the effect multiple different surfaces have of the rebound height of a ball. It was hypothesised that “smoother and harder nature surfaces will allow the ball to rebound higher”, the experiment was successful as a conclusion was made. It was proven that different surfaces effect the bounce of the ball as does the type of ball being bounced effects the rebound height of the ball therefore meaning the hypothesis was wrong. This experiment can be linked back into the use of everyday life such as developing safer playground for
