Extroversion Extroversion is usually evident from early childhood to the day we die. Extroversion is related to the comfort levels of people when they are involved in relationships with others. There are two groups known as extroverts and introverts. Introverts are often referred to as reserved individuals who enjoy their own company and keep to themselves whereas extroverts tend to outwardly express their feelings and thrive in a social environment. Introverts tend to be quiet and avoid taking part in social situations, usually preferring to observe from afar rather than engage with others. They find it difficult to work in large group settings as it inhibits their ability to make an effective contribution. Introverts don’t feel the urge to socially engage with others which is not necessarily as a consequence of being shy but rather a satisfaction with being a companionless figure. Introverts are not an impulsive type of person which makes them likely candidates for missing out on potentially worthwhile opportunities. This in a sense shows that introverts are perfectionists and are very calculated in their approach. They like to plan and have a structure in place in order to achieve their goals. Introverts are also inclined to internally examine their own performance levels and are widely considered to have better job attendance records compared to extroverts as a result of their highly committed attitude. Extroverts are sociable people that often get agitated when they are inhibited socially. They continuously seek out excitement in their lives and are unfazed by standing out from the crowd. They are ideal candidates for leadership roles in companies due to their social skills and ability to take charge and engage with others.... ... middle of paper ... ...imes these intelligent and highly driven individuals are regarded as boring due to their persistently hard working nature. They are willing to work extremely hard in order to accomplish their goals. They possess all the traits necessary to run a business or become a successful entrepreneur. People who rate low on conscientiousness, also known as unconscientious people are often regarded as unreliable and disorganised individuals with a lack of determination to achieve. They often come across as laid back in their approach and become easily distracted when it comes to performing a task. They usually lack the ability to follow procedure, possibly due to their lack of motivation and their inclination towards being a reactive rather than a proactive type of person. They are more suited to a highly structured work environment in order to avoid exposing weaknesses.
Certainly, the “introverted” versus “extroverted” label is an accurate description of my personality. I prefer peace and quiet as opposed to the hustle and bustle of typical work day. Moments of solitude are also cherished and in this setting I am the most productive. I typically stay at work a few hours past my normal shift to complete the tasks I could not beforehand. This is typically due to the constant interruptions (whether superiors or subordinates) in my office. At times, I may send my personnel home a bit early, so I can begin my tasks and not stay later into the evening. The main difference between introverts and extroverts is where they draw their energy from. Extroverts are generally considered as an expressive individual who seem to be energized by outgoing and social activities whereas introverts prefer the solitary pursuits -often embroiled in their own imagination- and may sometimes find the company of others draining. Introvert tend to recharge by reflection over ideas or by enjoying the solitude; they lose energy when they are near the crowd or large group of people.
For example, when asked a question at work I often answer with “give me just one second”, or “ill get back to you”. Most introverts need time for internal reflection. These people have characteristics that complement each other, these people are neat introverts. Neat introverts are advantageous at life because their characteristics support one another and bring out the best in them. Those who have larger amounts of this trait also are more likely to be excitable,enjoy starting new conversations, and in general like to be the center of attention. As for those with lower levels of this trait, or introverts, they are the opposite. They have to sometimes retreat from places with large amounts of social interaction in order to recharge. In a social setting they have to expend energy rather than gain it like an extravert.

Extroverts are generally people who have the need to obtain gratification from what is outside the self. They tend to enjoy human interactions and tend to be enthusiastic, talkative, assertive, and sometimes they can be loud. Also, they tend to be energized and tend to thrive off of being around other people. Extroverts enjoy taking part in large gatherings, parties and business as they tend to be more energized to be around people and enjoy their company. However, when they are by themselves, they find less reward in the time they spent alone as they get have the tendency to feel bored.
Introverts are just as capable as extroverts when it comes to becoming a great leader. It is believed that hard problems in the workforce or any leadership situation need to be given a lot of thought and consideration before making a drastic descision; this is a skill that introverts tend to possess (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). Unlike introverts, extroverts have more of a tendency to form solutions to problems without thinking much about the outcome, and they do not spend a lot of time getting other opinions on the matter (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). An introvert by nature asks more questions and listens closely to others which are great leadership skills (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). Unlike that of extroverts, introverts tend to be more capable at controlling negative emotions (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). Someone with a high score has a greater ability to consider future consequences before acting on impulses. High conscientiousness is favorable in many aspects of life.
