Recommended: The effect social media has on teens

According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, about 93% of kids aged 12 to 17 go online, with 73% of these teens using social media such as Facebook or Myspace" ( Barker, 2014, p.1).With the advancement of the internet and person to person communication sites, it is inconceivable for anybody to disregard the internet. The way that internet has affected everyone's normal life is beyond imagination. However, the impact that the web has the most on is teenagers. Teenagers consider the internet as the best form of communication. In spite of the positive attributes that the internet offers, there are some negative influences that parents must be mindful of. Cyberbullying, chatting with strangers and exploring adult websites are a portion of the unfavourable issues on with the web. Parent must not feel shy to discuss this dangerous issue with their teenager, and must look for counselling if needed. In conclusion, many would contend that observing teen’s web use is a rupture of their privacy. In any case, what is important is that parents are in charge of their youngsters, and they must guarantee that they satisfy their responsibility to their teens.
