Recommended: Importance of confidentiality in schools

There are two main aims with regard to confidentiality, firstly the disclosure of any information that needs to be confidential and secondly how information and records are kept confidential. With personal disclosures, any disclosure of sexual activity will become an immediate issue with child protection and procedures will be followed. Staff are to inform pupils in the beginning of any disclosure that there are limits to confidentiality, this is because the safety and well-being of the pupil is the most important and if confidentiality needs to be broken, pupils will be informed and encouraged to do this themselves. Again I feel this is good thing as the pupil will have the support he/she needs from the staff to inform their parents. Situations
