"In the fall of 1999, Arts & Entertainment Television aired a three-hour series titled, “Biography of the Millennium." The show counted down from 100 the most influential people of the last 1000 years, and number one on the list was Johannes Gutenberg. This German craftsman revolutionized the world in the 1450s by inventing the printing the printing press"(Background Essay). The most important consequence of the printing press were it changes life of millions, we learn from it by reading books, magazines, novels and it spread because everyone started using it pretty quickly.
(Hook) Throughout the history of man, there has been numerous achievements in human communication that have changed lives greatly. (Bridge) One of the milestones in communication was the printing press. (Background Info) In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press in Germany. By 1600, more than 200 million books had come off the presses. Therefore, an average person living in Europe at the time could own a book, such as a copy of the Bible. As the number of books being produced increased, the literacy rate increased as well. As a result, people started to read and explore topics such as science, religion, and geography. The printing press led to a major price drop in books, more knowledge learned, and many significant events in history, such as the Age of Exploration and the Reformation. (Thesis) I believe that the most crucial consequence of the printing press was the Age of Exploration.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to live in this world and country during the transition from a rural; agriculture society to an economic nation rise of an industrialized society? Well that is exactly what the people of the Gilded Age experienced. It was a time of a dramatic business and political practice. In order for the business’s to rise there soon became a great amount of separation towards the people and the country. This caused our society to experience a stressful time and made it very difficult for ideas and concepts to equal out. Throughout this specific document there are four sources that were written by different individuals. Each and every source has an explanation and an overview of the times in the Gilded Age.
The printing press was, arguably, the most impactful invention in history. Created by Johannes Gutenberg, the printing press are sets of metal letters set in a frame that could be inked, papered and pressed. The printing press affected the fast and wide spread of new ideas changing everyday life. The Protestant Reformation was a movement that changed people’s mind about Catholic belief and created new sects of Christianity. The Exploration Era led to many discoveries of the Americas and opened up the curiosity of many. Both of these historical events were important consequences of the printing press. The Exploration Era was the more important consequence of the printing press than the Protestant Reformation.
The Gilded Age was the spark of technical innovations and advance in America. Railroads, steel, kerosene, light bulbs, ac/dc electrical lighting, etc., were all innovations that lead to technical advances. Inventors or businessmen helped take the Gilded Age to the peek. Men impacted their time by creating theories, efficient innovations, faster transportation. Each idea was a step into the right direction.
From 1865 to 1900, technology transformed the United States during the period known as the Gilded Age. During this time, the lives of the American people ultimately changed, for many Americans, including farmers, were able to share better food, yield more land, and help contribute to the overall standard of living. However, in order to attain a profit, farmers had the precarious responsibility of gathering the essential tools and crops to meet the nation’s demands. As a result, more raw materials, such as wood were being consumed in factories. In order to uphold the continuum of the vast growing nation, there was a demand for faster and easier means of transportation. Additionally, many foreigners sought America to be a very superior and prosperous land. The foreigners were men and women from various nations, also known as the Go-Getters, found new ways of living and vast amount of opportunities. Coined by Mark Twain, the Gilded Age became a symbol of America, as it expressed a false image of prosperity from the outside, but truly held an underlying corrupt background. Technology transformed the United States during the Gilded Age by the changing of American labor force, benefits of new inventions, developments in communication and transportation, and through great hardship and wealth.
To many people books are just words on paper, but to others books represent a way of living. The books help citizens make choices on daily activities and help discover what knowledge to pass on to others. Books help a culture or society improve and grow in multiple ways. The words that are printed onto the pages of a story affects individuals, education, and culture as a whole. Since books affect all of those groups, it is hard to imagine a world without them. How different would life be with all the changes in the groups where books have affected them?
The printing press allowed anything to be spread throughout the world with relative ease, and for cheap. Prior to the 1436 invention by Johannes Gutenberg, books were written BY HAND, by the priests and scholars of the time which meant knowledge was limited, and the spreading of news would take much longer. Without the printing press Martin Luther would never had been able to spread his ideals throughout the world. The Renaissance period also changed through literature. This new change in literature was important because it taught people to read,write and with learning how to read and write gave people the needed components to do for themselves, different ways to think and use knowledge to better themselves.. Through the preface and introduction, Price invites the reader to allow him to describe and trace the evolution of intellectual pursuit in the Middle Ages. An unbiased point of view is what he would like to portray but he admits that many influential thinkers have gone without mention. Influences which were neglected were the Jewish and Arabic religious/cultural ideals and the Christian Greek culture which is described as "vital and interesting." Price also encourages the readers to be intrigued and to go outside the "confines" of the book to find more answers to questions they may have.

However, the plagues devastation was not all chaotic, there were benefits too, such as modern labour movements, improvements in medicine and a new outlook on life. Therefore, in order to analyse the impact the Black Death had on societies in the 14th century, this essay will consider the social, economic, cultural and religious factors in order to reach an overall conclusion. The invention of the printing press revolutionized fifteenth century era European communication. With the progression of technology the translation of information moved from spoken word to written word, and then to print. Separate experiences and mentalities developed depending on their reliance on spoken verses written word. Spoken word was unreliable and didn’t transport information quickly or safely enough. Written word often took months to transcribe and were hand-written which is difficult to comprehend and facilitate. Print became the method of choice, producing books
