The story of Romeo and Juliet is one known by many. The theme of Romeo and Juliet is teen rebellion, but like this theme, there are many other books, movies, and songs that use this theme. Romeo and Juliet is the main story of teenage rebellion, because of how they fell in love and rebelled against their parents. Although shakespeare’s love story uses the theme of teen rebellion, another example of this theme is Delirium by Lauren Oliver. A third example of this is in the book the Selection by Kiera Cass. The book Delirium is about a future society where love is a dangerous illness, and when you turn the age of eighteen , you take your test so you may become cured. From only this one sentence, this book can be compared to Romeo and Juliet, because their love is forbidden, and in Delirium love is a illness, which can be considered also forbidden. The main character of the story is a girl names Lena, Lena’s mother died because of the disease, called amor deliria nervosa, leaving Lena to think love is evil. Romeo and Juliet is about the children of two rivals. They fall in love at Juliet’s ball, when she was supposed to be with her to be husband Paris. After they fall in love and share a special moment, Romeo runs away from his friends and into the Capulet's garden where Juliet’s balcony happened to be. After they talk they agree to marry the next day. As someone reading this we already know that they will both end up dead in the end, but to them, they love each other so strongly they do not think about their actions. By them doing this out of love it is rebelling against their parents feud against each other. They think that by them marrying, the feuding will end.
