Recommended: Racism and literature

In my opinion the novel The Sellout by Paul Beatty contains a lot of racism and stereotypes. In other novels we have read throughout the course have been sorta old fashion racism and jokes. So the jokes for me did not pop out to me as much. This novel is different though because it is in the time frame we are living now so it is easier for me to catch the racism and stereotypes. A reoccurring theme I saw throughout the whole novel were examples racism and stereotypes. I know all of the books we have read had some kind of racism in them but I feel like this one is the first novel that I saw a lot of examples and could relate some of it to what happens in today's society. For example his dad getting shot by police officers could be compared
