Shuck, Shuck have you ever dig a hole in the dirt. Well when you go to camp green lake you will. In holes by Louis Sachar. Stanley gets accused for stealing shoes. His punishment was to go to camp green lake. The theme of holes is heroism because in the story Stanley shows courage, has strength, and going hope. I choose courage because he shows it by climbing the mountain. “The fear made him dizzy.” (Sachar, 197) it made him dizzy because he did not know if he would be able to climb the mountain. He also thought that if he failed zero it would be disappointing. He feared that if there was no food or water he would still fail zero. And he had hope and courage that there would be food or water. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
