Q1: The argument suggests courage be defined based on, the actions of an individual and the situation they are placed in. Someone could be put into the same situation and act on the situation differently based on experience, knowledge, desperation, and the meaning of the action or situation to an individual.(192c1-3-192d7) Someone with more knowledge will act more accordingly to a difficult situation if they know what their chances are in succeeding in that action or the consequences attempting it. Socrates is arguing, that without knowing what being righteousness or corrupt is and when it will occur you will not be able to contain courage. If Socrates were to change his theory to state that anyone can encounter wisdom of righteousness and of the anti, that they are representing courage. Which will make the revision true, having wisdom on a subject as broad as good or bad makes it hard to determine what makes up courage and how much wisdom you need to encounter in order to have it. (ii) Courage not standing on it's on is a major point being drawn in this passage. It is a small part to be considered in a wide variety of virtuous behaviors. Courage is an act of bravery a person takes part in knowing their emotional connection to it, the values they are risking, and the impact in ways of goodness it can have on those close to them. (iii) Laches has not answered the concluding question. Many can argue what courage is, why it's important, and why they support their theory.Laches wanted to prove courage to be a virtue in itself and not a virtue contained with others.
