In the Story, “Everyday Use,” by Alice Walker, the conflict is over when the mother hears and keeps an eye on Dee, she comes to realize that she has been doing indeed the wrong thing by placing Dee above all the rest. Dee has abandoned all thoughts about not only being black, but as well, she is an American. It was as if God communicated to her. She then took hold of Maggie and actually embraced her for the first-time. When the time came and Dee drove away, her mother actually felt happy and satisfied for the first time.
