In the book “Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting” by Vijay Prashad showed the people viewed of race. I can see the hierarchy in his book that the white people will always on the top. Especially, in the USA the hierarchy of race was told as the white citizen was in the top then other white race from European, under the European would be Black and Asians people. The race hierarchy affected in the USA from the eighteenth and nineteenth century to the twenty-first century. In the chapter 2, we can see that Prashad explained the problem of people in twenty-first century. For example, Prashad has briefly talk about “The problem of the twenty-first century…is the problem of the color blind.” (38) Prashad is right about it. It gives the color blind a different meaning. The color blind will be known at the way for people to overlook racism. However, the twenty-first century is better than the eighteenth and nineteenth century. At least, the government doesn’t openly allow the racism happen. Prashad’s book reminded us that in the 1896: Plessy v Ferguson “ US Supreme Court upheld constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities as long as the segregated facilities were equal in quality.” We can see that the view of race have change a lot. People can’t openly show their racism anymore. After the change of view in race, people allow the cultural to develop. The polyculturalism, pluralism, and multiculturalism was develop and the multiculturalism thrive to the main cultural in the USA now. Other problems that Prashad mention is the problem with how people view Asian and Black people after slavery end. In chapter 3 “Collie Purana” Prashad mentioned how the word “Coolie” started. After the slavery, the European wanted to hire African and Asian people to work for them. It seems like a good deed the white people do to Asian and Black
