This viral photograph taken by Evan Vucci of President Donald Trump and Pope Francis unlocked questions about their relationship and put Trump in a negative light. A picture is worth a thousand words, as it is said. On May 24th, 2017, Pope Francis and United States President Donald Trump, posed for a photo after meeting for the first time. At Trump’s right-hand side stood his wife Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump, and about a foot to his left stood the Pope. Trump and his family were dressed in a somber black from head to toe. Melania and Ivanka Trump looked like twins wearing black transparent mesh veils to match their black long sleeve dresses that fell below the knee. This photograph of President Donald Trump, wife Melania Trump and daughter Ivanka Trump meeting Pope Francis at the Vatican is going viral, due to the disgruntled expression the pontiff holds. The photograph instantly became a target of mockery on several social media platforms, primarily Twitter, which just happens to be the President’s favorite. The focus was on Pope’s expression, looking miserable beside President Donald Trump. Users quickly picked up on the Pope’s drained expression, which supplied the fuel source for the mass pollution of memes seen on many Americans Twitter feeds that day. His facial expression was highlighted when users compared it to images of him meeting other people of high importance. Particularly when shown in comparison to how the Pope looked when he met former President Barack Obama. In direct contrast, the Pope seemed much more content in his photo with the former president. It’s easy to make a mockery of the photo knowing the Pope is fulling capable of smiling alongside other presidents but not Trump. Depicting that the Pope has enjoyed meeting with other world leaders much more. Twitter users also inferred that Pope Francis was mentally picturing his visit with Obama while his photo with Trump was being taken. People from all over the world photoshopped the hell out of this image, and the majority of the memes showed Trump in a bad light (per usual). The jokes continued to spread through Twitter that day, prompting articles from reputable organizations such as The Huffington Post, Time Magazine, ABC and USA
