Evaluation of Arabs' Contribution to Women's Dignities and Rights Living in a civilisation so remote from our own, the life of the Arab

world is truly an enigma to the Western mind. The position of women is

among of one of the most disputed subject matters in proving how far

the Arab world is trapped in the past. With a clear awareness of the

Islamic ideology on women and the knowledge of the significance of

culture in Arab society, an idea regarding the importance of females

in Middle Eastern culture begins to develop.

The essay will be broken down to ensure certain criteria’s are

mentioned. Initially, by running a historical perspective of the

status of women in the pre-Islamic era, I want to highlight the reader

into identifying the similarities and the differences in conjunction

to the Arab woman. Secondly, I want the reader to detect the fact

that how these differences will compare with the rights which were

finally gained by the women in recent ages. This hopefully will allow

us finally the answer to the essay question in the view of the Middle

Eastern women. Is the Arab World truly trapped in the past for them?

Historical Perspectives

The major objective in this essay is to provide a fair evaluation of

what the Arabs and their religion contributed (or didn’t contribute)

towards women dignities and rights. I am going to use the status of

the Western and Southern Eastern women to give the reader an idea of

the situation of these females.

The Arab women aren’t trapped in the past. The only thing that is

trapped is the Western critics that have flawed her. This

understanding of her is not tangible with the Middle Eastern

understanding. The single entity that is locked in the past is her

revelation that was given to her 1400 years ago. This devine

revelation is a catalyst of her life, let it be the Arab Woman, or her

foremother herself.
