Etty Hillesum Diary

Etty diary was a great martyr who had led her life perfectly in the search of the holiness. No doubt, Etty was an intelligent and brilliant young woman but she also possessed all the weaknesses that other humans possessed in some form. This is the reason that her life sets as an example of the life of faith through which she makes the god capable of being believed to the whole world.

Etty seems to be an inspiration for the spiritual life. During her terrible life, she becomes more conscious to the god when other people concerned with his or her own interest and cynical towards the god.

Etty Hillesum was a young Jewish woman who lived in a Amsterdam when she started her diary in 1941 and who died two years later as one of the victim of the holocaust during the Nazi occupation. She had a very strong influence on the spirituality in the western culture. Through her journey, which she had covered in her diary, create a positive effect on most of the people who read their diary. Throughout her journey, she had full faith in god to whom she believed that god help the people in their difficult time as god helped in salving the evil that Nazi set on the earth.

Etty find the meaning and the beauty of spiritual life in her struggle during the Nazi camp. During her struggle, she gives us the lesson how to survive and maintain the dignity during the struggle as she did.

Throughout her diary we have learnt that Etty life sets an example to the other people to make them learnt that how should we come up with the crisis? As she searched for the truth and also struggled with both emotional and spiritual differences. She explores the depth in herself and found what she called god.

As Etty, faith toward the god and the love grows through her life and it keeps her alive within her inner body. Our own faith also maturing each day when we face the trials of the life.

In her experienced hell in Nazi camp, she found heaven for her. When she was facing the struggle of the victims with fearful Nazi eclipsed, she acclimatizes herself to the flow of life fearlessly. While the world is broken around her but she was living with the hope as she had faith in the goodness of humanity.

At the end, I just want to say that Etty makes a goal in her life to give the meaning and value to the life, show concern to the others; through the inner peace, we can experience the heaven in the situation of hell.
