In the 1996 classic The Craft, a suicidal teen Sarah, moves to Los Angeles, California where she develops a friendship with three girls who participate in occult and Wicca practices. The movie’s portrayal of the girl’s involvement in Wicca introduces a false perception of Wiccans as evil individuals or Satanists in society. The Craft and Wicca differ as The Craft portrays Wiccans as Satanists (Chirco) who utilize “magic” for evil purposes and claims that a witch has natural powers. Whereas Wiccans follow a moral code and know that power lies in the intention of the Wiccan. While someone may be more in tune naturally with a higher energy, one develops these skills.
