I have decided to write you this letter because it’s been more than years I have something that is always going on my mind and I’m always confused about it. However, as a student it’s a pleasure for me to talk to you and to also share my ideas with you about “the difference between soccer and football”. I suggest you this missive because you are the president of the NFL association.
Roger, I know that you were not the one who made the decision when the US started to use the word soccer, but according to my researches. I have found that more than one-quarter of the human race shares a craze for a sport most of the world knows as “football” and Americans know it as soccer. I have never heard or been told why it’s called soccer, especially in the USA.
As a soccer fan, and also a supporter, it would be great if the name soccer could be changed to football in the United States just like other countries. Specifically, most foreigners get confused when they come to the United States and hear others are talking about football, …show more content…

Soccer is currently one of the most popular sports in the world, and in a few years soccer might be the top sport in the United States, which can create confusions between soccer and football since America is so diverse. One can say that America has a lot of people from all over the world, who where not used to soccer being called football. However, football should be called “handball” because this sport only plays with hands, and all the moves and actions are done by hands only. I have never heard the word soccer as a sport before I came to USA, and I have never found a good reason why it’s called soccer instead of football because soccer is played by feet, so that would make perfect sense.
