Lives of Jesus and Mohammed historically. Jesus and Mohammed both are two huge historic religious figures. However, even though they are both very respectable in their religion they have many differences. Mohammed was born in Mecca and was an orphan. At the age of 40 he was appointed by God as a prophet. Jesus, however, was born in Bethlehem to the virgin Mary. The angel Gabriel proclaimed him as the “Son of the most High”. Jesus worked as a carpenter and at the age of 30 began his public ministry. Jesus and Mohammed both began their ministry late in life, but Jesus was appointed as a savior from the beginning and Mohammed was not. He called people to worships one almighty god and would always emphasize his humanity so people would not worship the wrong thing or person. With this Mohammed always wanted to be referred as “the Messenger of God and His slave”. He was chosen to be God’s final messenger and be a living example of the message. Muslims main purpose is to strive to follow the example of Mohammed but to reiterate they do not worship him at all. Jesus has some similarities where his follower strives to be much more like him everyday, but they know that they are not perfect. Jesus is worshipped in churches where a pastor teaches about the Bible and what was going on in Jesus’ time and how to interpret what was being written in the Bible. Christians claim that when they get “saved” they feel Jesus come into their heart and they open their heart to let Jesus live their forever. Jesus claimed divine status and people worship him and recognize the holy trinity. However, you do not have to worship all three, because God affirms that he is “the one Lord” and you should love him with all your soul, mind, and strength. They are also practicing their daily requirements and duties like, acquiring knowledge, paying charity, living in peace and harmony, etc. Many people are scared of the Islam religion because of terrorists however, violence is never mentioned in Mohammed’s teachings. Muslim preachers are not aggressive they want you to follow your religion and they will follow theirs unless you are curious about it. Muslims do try to explain the true meaning of Islam whenever information get confused. It is very easy for people to be a stereotype of the Islam religion after all of the current events and feuds with ISIS. When Jesus left the earth he left a job for his disciples. He told them that they were to go out and tell everyone about the good news and tell everyone about what he had done for them. He told them that they were also to preach and make disciples. In present day we are using missionaries to go out and tell the good news. Most people in America have heard of Jesus so most of the time Missionaries go over seas to spread the good news of Jesus. There are also things like Gideon’s who go around America and provide Bible for people who do not have one. Both religions are not violent and promote peace and doing good in the world.
