Federal Reserve interest rates are very important and can have an impact on a person’s life in multiple ways. The Federal Reserve interest rate is widely defined as the interest rate that banks charge each other to lend Federal Reserve funds overnight and is what the central banks are required to have on hand. The Federal Reserve interest rate ensures that banks are not lending out every single dollar they have and maintain some in reserve. (Amadeo, 2016) For this reason the Federal Reserve interest rate plays a vital role in the strength of an economy. As the Federal Reserve interest rates are established, banks will use this interest rate to established short-term interest rates. In this assignment, I will discuss on a more personal level of the impacts of the Federal Reserve interest rates. I will discuss how the recent changes in interest rate made by the Federal Reserve has caused me to make changes in my life. When the Federal Reserve establish interest rates, the impact is felt by every citizen in the country. The current Federal Reserve rate is between .075% and 1 %. The Boards of Governors of the Federal Reserve are planning to continue increasing interest rates with 3 scheduled increases for 2018. (Davidson, 2017) Over the past years, the interest rate of the Federal Reserve has been considerably low. The reason being is that the Federal Reserve established low interest rates to help ease the country and economy out of the recession of 2008. The Federal Reserve was hoping that the lower interest rate would help to stimulate economic growth by encouraging borrowing and investing.
