A controversial argument in America is whether extreme racism is considered a mental illness. Extreme racism is being at the mindset of causing someone harm generally to the point where murdering someone takes in action. Criminal injustice has been occurring for decades in America, however many would question on why it occurs. Most are due to extreme racist acts upon a community of people. While crimes increase most individuals claim that it is being caused by those who are suffering from mental illness not because they disagree with a certain group but because they have been triggered to commit the crime by the illness.
Although, racism has occurred for past centuries America as a country has deliberately attempted to decrease hate crimes and injustice for minorities. In order to overcome this issue extreme racism should be consider as a mental problem. Many people would question whether the person conducting the investigation/ crime could maintain their unbiased opinion, on either or both, issues of racism and mental illness. However, majority of crimes are pointed towards specific groups such as gays or minorities which

In addition, there are many behaviors to this problem but APA rejected the petition, however, arguing that mental illnesses must deviate from normal behavior. Citing research showing prejudiced attitudes were relatively common among white Americans, the APA in effect argued that racism was normal, and not a fringe set of beliefs. Nevertheless, that same year the final report of the Joint Commission on Mental Health of Children acknowledged that racism was, for some, America’s “number one public health problem.” However, those who commit crimes are considered to be battling a mental health
Earlier in the semester we watched a video over Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome by Dr. Joy DeGruy. This video was inspiring for people to look at what has happened in our history and society. This has been a major social injustice to African-Americans for so long, and it is now time that it needs to be confronted. People are often confused about why some people get upset about the way African-Americans react to some things, it is because they never had the opportunity to heal from their pain in history. In the article “Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome,” it is talked about how racism is, “a serious illness that has been allowed to fester for 400 years without proper attention” (Leary, Hammond, and Davis, “Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome”). This is
burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible.” Racism and prejudice have existed since the beginning of time and are present in our world today. The world can only hope that society will advance and will grasp that racism is a fancy word for ignorance. The Tuskegee case opened they eyes of many Americans and eliminated prejudice from scientific and medical communities. It took forty years to end this unjust research study, but the painful and even deadly effects on its participants would linger on forever.

Racism still exists in the United States through our Criminal Justice System which unfairly targets African American and Latino
Racism seems to be a growing problem in America, and it should be diminishing as our society progresses. Many acts of racism shown in The Power of One have reoccurred recently.
Racism has been a sensitive subject that sparks heated discussions amongst members of our society. Although laws have been passed to protect minorities, we are still struggling to provide equality to everybody. Last year, it was the Trayvon Martin debacle that garnered public attention, and now people are outraged by the Michael Brown case. According to the article, “When Whites Just Don’t Get It” by Nicholas Kristoff, many white Americans say they are fed up with the coverage of the shooting of Michael Brown. They think that this incident should not be gaining so much attention. In fact, a 2011 study done at Harvard and Tufts that indicated that whites, on average, believed that white anti-racism was a bigger problem than anti-black racism. Michael Brown’s case is just one of many racial problems this country faces.
Exposition: Determining Hate Crimes?Hate based on race, religion and sexual orientation exist within any cultural rich societies. When this type of hate fuels a person into taking violent actions upon those they hate, it is called a hate crime; a topic which the American public is seriously concerned about. It has been a widely discussed subject on the media, and often debates of whether or not a crime should be attributed with hate are the center for discussion.Does hate crime imply on any case when a person is convicted for inflicting damage on someone "different"? It is often difficult to set a benchmark for measuring sufficiency of hate as a cause to label it in front of crime. The term can be conveniently stretched and squeezed by people with different ideas and biases.
Society consists of many different sociological groups. These groups involve people of diverse races, religions, and more. Unfortunately, hate crimes happen when groups become angry or frustrated towards each other. These groups are formed mostly during times of economic struggle or even social change. Hate groups continue to be a problem in our society. A group believes that the reason for a specific problem is only the fault of another racial, religious, or other group. The most common forms of crime in our society are due to hatred. Hate crimes are defined as a crime motivated by hatred, prejudice, or intolerance of somebody’s race, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation, disability, and/or sexual orientation. Plenty of hate crimes happen due to the fact that someone is different from someone else.
The statistics of today show its still racism in the United States with hate crimes of 47 percent including police brutality, salary wage between men and women, mass incarceration with young men in prison who in this economy have little advantages if they have a family to support can’t. Justice has not been served for individuals who experience racism encounters either with the police or being murder for the color of your skin. Racial Discrimination applies to specific economic and social opportunities that influence others to think or behave negatively.
Pregnancy outcomes are affected by racism and chronic stress due to many life’s factors such as social and economic. Studies have proven that the majority of African American babies are born premature and with weight problems in comparison to white American babies, and it is no a coincidence that these race is the one most affected by discrimination. Racism could be the answer to this dilemma because it is an issue people have been dealing with for decades, which has increase people worries to the point of becoming a chronic stress. A century ago, the average American lived only about 48 years, but as living conditions and medical care improve, people began living longer as mention of the “In Sickness and in Wealth” video. The society made possible for living conditions to improved, but still was not able to fight racism. For example, in the 1930’s the new social programs prevented an economic crisis from becoming an even worse health crisis by providing services that protected children and good health. The same happened when the returning veterans got the GI bill, offering them home...
Discursive Essay on Racism Racism has existed for centuries, but during the last two hundred years hatred toward ethnic minorities or even majorities has fluctuated. Racism occurs all over the world, can happen to anyone and will always exist. There are three different forms of racism, open racism, violent racism and secret racism all express forms of hatred towards ethnic groups. These forms of racism, although different, all have the same main purpose, to promote hate towards ethnic groups. Open racism expresses freedom of racial thought and speech.
Hate crimes has become an increasing problem here in the united states ranging from racial hatred to gender discrimination but what are hate crimes? According to Dr. Jack McDevitt, a criminologist at Northeastern University in Boston Hate crimes are message crimes, Hate crimes are defined as crimes that are violent act against people, property, or organizations because of the group to which they belong or identify with. The coined term “hate crimes” was first used No matter how many different definitions there are for hate crimes but we all can agree that hate crimes are wrong and immoral. But within hate crimes they are many different types of hate crimes. One of the main reasons that people commit hate crimes would have to be because of racial hatred. Racial Hatred is a major factor in hate crimes with African Americans being the main target. According to the FBI database in 1996, 4,831 out of the 7,947 such crimes reported to the FBI, or 60%, were promulgated because of race, with close to two-thirds (62%) targeting African Americans.
There are many who believe hate crime should be punished more severely since it ‘’has the potential to cause greater harm.’’ (Hate Crime Laws, 2014) Hate crimes, like racial discrimination, have unfortunately been a part of this country for centuries, racial discrimination was rampant in the 19th and 20th century, but mostly in the south; many segregation laws were created at the time ‘’that banned African Americans from voting, attending certain schools, and using public accommodations. ’’ (Hate Crime Laws, 2014)

Firstly, I would like to define the term racism generally and talk about its characteristics: Racism is an ideology that uses real or fictitious differences between two ethnic groups for the benefit of the Prosecutor and for the detriment of the victims. Racism wants the victims to ascribe to all kinds of bad properties, to prove their negativity and shows the positivism of the prosecutor at the same time. Racism is an absolute ideology, because it explains the differences for definitive and in general. For example, all coloured people are for all time inferior to the white population in mental capacity. This attitude always causes, therefore, a hierarchy of the society. It justifies and legitimizes an injustice against the victims group.
