Embryonic Stem Cell Research Can Save Lives

One of the most controversial topics in the field of biomedicine has been the research of embryonic stem cells. Stem cells are extremely fascinating to what they can do they have the potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing without limit to replace other cells as along as the person is still alive. When stem cells divide they could become specialized cells such as muscle cells, red blood cells, brain cells, and etc. their unique generative abilities, stem cells offer a new potential for treating diseases such as diabetes, and heart disease. The argument about it is if it is morally and legally proper to use human embryos for such research, and should government funds be used for this research. Meanwhile its promising use is extremely great; there just as many people against stem cells research as there are for it. These people range from politicians, especially right wing politicians, to scientists, to religious people. What are embryonic stem cells and how are they developed? Embryonic stem cells are collected from the early stages of a fertilized egg called the blastocyst, which is fertilized in an in vitro lab, which is fertilization not in a female body. These embryos are also known as pre embryos because they contain no human organs or features making no form of life visible. The cells are taken from the embryo are known as pluripotent which can develop into any type of body tissue. These pluripotent cells are then put into a plastic laboratory dish that has a nutrient know as the culture medium. With federal funding and the approval of the FDA, to trial these embryonic stem cells on humans, and conduct further research. The research can now speed up in process and hopefully fulfill the promises it offers. If successful these embryonic stem cells can save lives, and can change lives for those who have struggled from diseases and disabilities, that have limited their life. President Obama a strong supporter of the research said after lifting the ban on federal funding "I cannot guarantee that we will find the treatments and cures we seek. No president can promise that. But I can promise that we will seek them actively, responsibly, and with the urgency required to make up for lost ground." People deserve a chance to survive, and it would be morally wrong to ignore and oppose opportunities that can possibly cure them, and relieve them from those diseases.
