Ellion - Original Writing Ellion crashed through the forest. He didn’t know how far they were behind him. He clenched his hands from the excruciating pain from the passing outgrowth as the branches repeatedly scraped against his coarse skin. He was breathing heavily. Ellion briefly paused to catch his breathe and looked around to get his bearings. He knew where he was. Suddenly a bird flustered, Ellion stepped backwards and snapped a branch, the sound echoed through the silent forest. He hastily pounced into a huge barbed bush. Before long two guards had strode past him inspecting the perimeter. Both were carrying large serrated swords to reward any vagrant outcasts they might come upon.

However the narrator reveals that Farquhar?s escape is a hallucination that lasts only from moment the rope breaks his neck at the end of the fall.
