At the beginning of Night, Eliezer describes himself as someone who believes profoundly. Throughout the book Elie’s faith starts to fade away because of his experience at Auschwitz and other camps. There are some quotes from the book that show that Elie’s faith is going away. First we have a quote in which he believes a lot in his faith. “Why did I pray? Strange question. Why did I live? Why did I breath?” (page 4). At this point in the book Elie is strong in his faith and compares it to living and breathing.
