Will We Make It Home?

Many people are killed every year from elderly drivers being on the road. Although many people don’t notice or think about how serious this is, many are realizing how many deaths, injuries, and other serious traumas are happening because of these elderly drivers. Wise and caring citizens should work to help make tests to find the abilities of elderly drivers, and make vehicles simpler, less full of distractions, and more comfortable for the elderly drivers to help stop car accidents caused by them.
Elderly drivers sometimes have troubles driving because of distractions and slower working brains causing many accidents and missing people. One reason we should test elderly drivers is because their brains can start to …show more content…

If you are tremendously sad, stressed, or upset your driving abilities can decrease even more. This may seem unlikely, but it is really true and serious. The Improv traffic school (ITS) proved that when your brain is too focused on stress or sadness and why it is feeling that way you can take out your feelings while driving on the road or not focus on driving and lose control or focus. 3 Being to focused on a happy event also affects your driving. You may be too focused on thinking about the happy event you have/or will be facing to react quickly to troubles on the road. The Driving Association of Canada (DAC) did tests to prove that when your mind is too focused on a positive event it will react to situations on the road slower causing many accidents. 4 People need to check how their feeling before they go on the road because high amounts of temper or sadness can result in road rage or careless/reckless driving. The Safe Motorist program proved that 66% of driving fatalities are caused by road rage. Mostly by people under the 19 or elderly drivers. 5 Not only physical things can cause accidents, but emotional things can also cause even more accidents for elderly drivers and other drivers too.
