Heartbreak Leads to Death
The Raven, as a bird, is commonly thought to be a pest or a sign of bad luck. In the case of “The Raven”, the poem by a beloved gothic literature author, Edgar Allen Poe, this no exception. However “The Raven” created another side to Poe as a writer, making him widely known among the writing society and his community where he was formerly thought of as a “nobody”. This poem grabs the reader’s attention from the beginning and puts them into another state of mind, by engaging them and challenging them to use their mind to take their own interpretation of the poem’s unique aspects. Grief is different for every person, the way they handle it, what comes from it, and how it is overcomed. For some people if grief is felt they are overcomed by it and it controls their life, resulting in some sad and almost pathetic endings. Versus other people who see loss and sorrow as a sign of another chance, a time to restart and reflect on yourself. The author does a great job telling how powerful grief is and what can be a result of it. This poem illustrates that even a story can be interpreted in different ways. The key is to be kind to one another and not judge. Judgement towards others is dangerous and can cause people to get hurt. No one should be in complete isolation during such a difficult time as this author was, with the support of others he could have overcome the feeling of grief. Talking to others, listening to others, and learning from others are ways to cope with grief. When one is left alone the mind can play tricks, making the line between reality and imaginary become hazy. Being there for each other is very important especially today, since everyone is worried about themselves and making them better. If people were to talk to others about their problems there would be less hard ache in the world today. Sure talking to others does not work for everyone, but there are many other effective ways to endure pain, grief, and sorrow. Everyone needs each other even if we think we are better off on our own, it is in the human nature to love and help others. Relationships and bonds between people are some of the strongest things on earth, people will literally give their lives for their loved ones.
