Ea talked about Facebook, a social network, and claimed that it was an “anti social network”. Though the emergence of social network disturbed our physical social contact, it did bring us a new way to know more people and a new vision to see the world. It’s hard for people to imagine a girl living in the U.S. for 30 years can make friends with a boy living in Japan. Even though they have never seen each other before, they can still acquire personal information and see photos posted by each other through Facebook or other social networking software. Though each online communication via technology relatively lasts shorter, efficiency of meetings does increase. Nowadays, we can make phone calls through Skype with 10 friends in an hour without leaving home. We could not imagine this in previous years. In the past, people had to make an appointment and made sure a place to meet with friends. Normally, they wasted a lot of time on their way to the meeting place. Although the quality of their conversation was a little higher than that of conversation in present, they lost more opportunities to talk with more people in a day. Face to face is absolutely necessary sometimes. Technology like texting message and email lets us communicate in short and carefully edited sentences. When people use texting or e-mail to contact with others, they can be the person that they want to be. It means people have time to think and modify their posting and people cannot get any information by nature of voice and body language from others. For instance, the police can detect whether the prisoners lying or not by watching the facial expression of the criminal. If they communicate by text messages, how can the police know what he said is true or not? As it turns out, when we talk with friends face-to-face, we can feel each other’s emotion and communicate more
