Humans have not detected or contacted with any extraterrestrial life. There have been various attempts made by humans to search for extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI). The tasks to Search for ETI (SETI) and sending Messages to ETI (METI) are in their primary phases. This would be a momentous achievement in the history of humanity (Dvorsky, 2013). There are many factors that need to be viewed in order to associate with ETI. These include the benefits and harm to humanity and the language used in the communication. Some astronomers believe that the ETI would sit and have a friendly and civilised communication with the humans. However, there are other astronomers and experts who believe that the ETI can possibly kill, infect, dissect, conquer, displace or enslave human beings. Alternative assumptions are that ETI will captivate and use humans as specimens for their museums or use our bodies for their medical research (Diamond, 1999). The Con side will also say it is not needed, and it serves no purpose, however, animal testing is a great thing, because it can help find cures for human illnesses, it can aid in the advancements of medical procedures, and it can also find cures for illnesses of animals. For many years, performing research on animals has had invaluable benefits for the human race, and without the constant developments we receive from it, we might still be plagued by the most medieval of viruses that we do not even think about in this day in age. The probability of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure would greatly increase if we did not possess the medication we can now use to control high blood pressure. According to the American Medical Progress Education Foundation, great advancements have been made regarding cardiology, including coronary blood flow, coronary bypass techniques and high blood pressure medication (Research 2). Many medications have been produced as a result of testing on animals, including insulin, the medication used to regulate diabetes. If animals were not used in medical research, we might still be living in a world where we must fear diseases like polio, smallpox, and even measles. Human Benefits. Medicine alone is not the only thing that has been vastly improved due to animal testing, the way we treat diseases and surgeries has all drastically changed and improved.
For over a thousand years people have reported seeing strange objects flying in the sky. Today the unknown flying objects -UFOs continue to visit us, on a regular basis. Response to intervention, also known as RTI, is a process to aid students’ progress throughout their academics to the best of their ability. This process tries to address any learning problems or difficulties starting at a younger age. When teachers and parents are able to address any learning problems of the students during the first few years of their education, the students can be provided the best instruction in addition to intervention for their individual needs.
Baum et al. further point out that ETI could harm us intentionally as they could attack us out of selfishness or out of a more altruistic desire to protect the galaxy from us or harm us unintentionally as they might give us a biological or computer disease that our defences cannot handle (p.2122-2125). While there is some justification for this point of view but there are reasons to believe that extraterrestrials would be cooperative, ETI being more intelligent and intellectual beings would tend to choose cooperative options as a non-cooperative measure is a risky strategy and can hinder the evolutionary process ( Baum et al., 2011, p.2119) .Searching for life beyond the confines of our very own planet, Earth, has been an ongoing obsession by astronomers and merely detecting the existence of ETI can be beneficial because it will be such a monumental discovery - arguably the most important discovery in human history (Baum et al., 2011, p.2118; SETI, n.d., p.109). If ETI cooperates with us, then they might be of assistance to many of humanity’s biggest challenges such as poverty, global warming, and enlighten us to the truth of our existence.
Do aliens exist? For eons, mankind has pondered over this peculiar question and a revealing truth has yet to be answered. However, one thing is known for sure, the discovery of intelligent alien life outside of Earth would provide support to prove and/or disprove fundamental beliefs that have been held for centuries. In any case, the discovery would serve as a cornerstone for humanity to make the quantum leap in understanding the purpose of our existence. Based on numerous examples, it is impossible to deny the existence of extraterrestrial life outside of Earth. Reportings of sightings, ancient civilizations beliefs, and scientific proof from scientists and astronomers are all key factors that contribute to this statement.
To conclude, there are no solid facts on the existence of extra-terrestrials. Whether or not they exist will, until definite proof is brought forward, be a topic of major debate. Personally I believe that there is something out there-although what it is I wouldn't hazard a guess.
