Dubsteps timbre is usually dark, with wobble sounds almost always played in minor scales create a much darker and strong emotional feeling, yet dubstep has a really cool vibe to it although it is played in minor scales. Trap usually consists with vocal samples throughout the intro and then coming through during the drop to keep things interesting. Trap is relatively the same as dubstep considering the kick is on the first beat (1⁄4) of every bar and the snare is on the third beat of every bar (3⁄4). Like dubstep, traps harmony usually consists of one key throughout the track but can also be played in the original key following the scale. Trap also has pitch bends on the synths to give variation and has a heavy use of delay on most sounds. There are four main apparatuses used for trapping. Leghold traps are designed to catch the animal by the toes, foot, or leg, with a tightly gripping metal trap. The animal that is captured by this method suffers a great deal of injuries, exposure, hunger, and thirst. Conibear traps are a little bit more humane in the sense that they are designed to be a “quick kill” mechanism which crushes the animal to kill it. This type of trap is mainly used on water animals, but they have been found with pets caught in them and some still alive. Cage traps are a pretty common use in urban areas. The animal is drawn to the cage with some sort of bate and is unharmed (for the time being), most of the animals are killed and not released. Wildlife Services uses this method because of potential liability issues (NRDC, 2011).
Hip-hop contains of a stylized rhythmic music normally goes along with rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is sung. In 1970, the Last Poets released their eponymous debut album; this was the first hip-hop to ever be released to the public. Their music was mixed with funk and aggressive, socially-conscious spoken words that became a primary brick in the foundation of what would come to be hip-hop. The 70’s also played a big part in the evolution of this funky music, which became the new sensation. Bringing forth dozens of excellent new releases, the future was looking bright for hip-hop. The first recording of rap was made in 1979 and the genre began to take notice in the U.S. in the mid-1980s. Though the name rap is often used back and forth with hip hop. The term "B-boy" or "B-boying" was created by Kool Herc, who was a DJ spinning at block parties in the Bronx back in the days. B-Boys means break boys and they were called so because they dance to the break part of music.

The term is derived from “trap” meaning, the place where drugs are typically sold, and prostitution happens. The entire subgenre is self-explanatory because of the name. The content of the music parallels the name perfectly.
This assignment introduced me to the sound and message of the rapping duo: Black Sheep. The group consist of New York natives Dres and Mista Lawnge. My search for the album to review started with skimming through the table of context of Brian Coleman’s Check the Technique Volume 2 and listening to snippets of each album. I initially was going to review a 3rd bass album because of the familiar samples; however, one song from the Black Sheep album stood out and made this album a clear choice. In this assignment, I hope to examine most tracks on the album and analyze the collective message of this twenty-two track project.
