Trap Queen by Fetty Wap My son listens to variety of music on his phone, one day we were cleaning the house as he was listening to the music on his phone with his headset on I decided to ask him “hey Sean, what are you listening to?” He told me that he was listening to “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap. I had asked him do you know what this song is talking about, he just told me “I don’t know but it has a good beat to it and I know the lyrics to it”. So, this is when I decided to analyze and interpret the song. In the music video Trap Queen, Fetty Wap explains what a trap queen is and portrays a world of drugs, violence, and shows how money, cars and women are a way to run the streets. Fetty uses urban languages to define some terms in his lyrics; in this case some individuals might not understand what they are. Like the word “bando “defines an abandon ghetto house, which they hold illegal drugs (fetty, 6). In Fetty Wap music video he displays drugs, a lot of money where he spends it on his trap queen, and also spends it recklessly and many other things such as cars, particularly on a Ferrari, or a Lamborghini. In order to run the streets Fetty Wap explains in his music that you need women, money, weapons and nice cars. One day coming home from work I decided to listen to Fetty Wap Trap queen, couple of the verses in his lyrics indicated that his Trap Queen uses him for money and that she could be more of a distraction when Fetty tries to focus on making music and money.
