Someday, a day like the others, I was at my house with my family. Then, we went to the grocery store with my little sister Karen and my dad. We took cereals and amazing seafood like shrimps and lobsters for the supper. We went to the cashier to pay. On the road to go back home, we put some music and we sang. Then, I asked my dad to drive because I want to be a good driver one day and I think that with practice I will be. So, I sat on the driver chair and started the engine. The first minute, it was good: I was on a straight road. The curves were more and more difficult to deal with. When we arrived on the street next to my house, I had lost all control. I was worrying for my family so I tried to stop the car but it was not the good pedal. So,
Do you know how many people die each year of Drunk Driving ? that’s right a lot nearly 25,000 people die each can you believe it . If you don't like to follow the rules you either get jail time , a harsh punishment ,lose your license not bad right ? It’s not bad its horrible how of one dumb mistake you make you lose everything instantly . You lose your family , your life ,your car , people you love , there’s no going back . Unless you have some kind of magic powers which nobody does . The punishments you get are pretty bad they have different ones in each country . For Example in Turkey you have to walk 2 miles away from your town with a police escort. In other countries you lose your license forever.
Each year numerous lives are lost due to careless and irrational driving. The disregard for safe driving has been a predicament to Queensland for years. For many years? police have relied heavily on speed cameras, breathe testing and heavy fines as a deterrent against unlawful drivers. Over the years fatality rates have increased, so Queensland Transport has composed a series of safe driving campaigns. On many occasions the transport department informs and advises the public about the importance of responsible driving. They propagate safe driving through the various channels of the media. According to Levinthal (2011), alcohol is called the hidden drug because an alcoholic does not need to find a drug dealer on the street; instead it is legally available and has no criminal sanctions attached to its use; alcoholism is therefore easily hidden from friends and family. Unfortunately, drunk driving is the leading cause of deaths on roadways, and in addition causes hundreds of boating accidents as well. Fortunately, with the legal drinking age set at twenty one and the reduction in the BAC level of intoxication set to 0.08, there have been positive results in minimizing alcohol related deaths annually.
There is knocking at a door late at night, and there a policeman standing at the door with information that a family member was in an accident that involved a drunk driver. This is one of those things people hear and believe that it will not happen, but it happens every day. Every 40 minutes, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver and in 2008, in Montana, 40 percent of all traffic fatalities involved DUIs (“Drunk Driving” 1). Drunk Driving affects everyone and people in Montana should look at what other states do to find ways to make the laws tougher and more enforced.
Impaired driving is a very significant problem within our society. Impaired driving is defined in Canada as operating a vehicle (including cars, trucks, boats, snowmobiles and off-road vehicles) while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is recognized as a crime under the Criminal Code of Canada. Despite a sizeable drop in the impaired driving rate since the mid-1980s, impaired driving is the leading cause of criminal death in Canada. It is a major issue that is taken very lenient but is far more dangerous than people actually consider it to truly be. Driving under the influence does not only put the person operating the vehicle in potential danger and harm, but also has the potential to do harm towards innocent others. With this being said, the punishments regarding the accused’s conviction of crimes related to impaired driving should be far stricter than the current punishments in order to stop impaired driving within our flawed society. This stated, these are my following reasons as to why I believe that the punishments of impaired driving should be stricter.
Almost every adult you encounter can say they have been drunk or slightly intoxicated some point throughout their life, but how many can admit to drunk driving. The use of alcohol when driving is completely frivolous and endangers the lives of others that share the road or is even a passenger in the vehicle. Penalties for DUIs should be harsher as if it was attempted murder or drug use. With the slightest mistake or misjudgment can cost you your own life or the life of someone else.

Many teens drink due to stress or difficult home life. Underage drinking can affect all aspects of life, including physical, psychological, and even your social life.

In this generations, where alcohol is cheap and very accessible many tends to abuse it. This people who abuse alcohol is known as drunk drivers because after taking three or four drinks they still believe that they are not drunk and goes back to the wheel of their vehicle without thinking of what will happen next. This drunk drivers are willing to risk their lives and the lives of others because they are ashamed or too big to call a family member or a designated drivers to take them home. Before the industrial revolution, America was unaware of the consequences of drunk driving. With no regulations in place, drivers could recklessly drive without violating the law. It was not until 1939 when Indiana was the first state to enforce a blood alcohol limit of .15. Which is two times the legal limit today ("A Short History of Drunk Driving").
Underage drunk driving is a serious problem. Many kids die every year from being drunk, getting behind the wheel of a vehicle and being too impaired to properly handle the vehicle, therefore injuring others, or even themselves. I’m not condoning drinking if you are underage but my thought on this is, if you are going to drink then at least do it in a safe place and somewhere you can spend the night and not have to drive.

In 1982, Ronald Reagan said that drunk driving is now America’s greatest problem. Therefore, to reduce further accidents, and prevent future fatalities or injuries, drunk drivers should be imprisoned for the first offense.
Drunk driving is extremely impactful on the lives of you and others. While drinking and driving, you are not just endangering yourself, you are also endangering the lives of others. The driver of the car does not just control the car with their hands and feet. They need their brain to function properly so that you are able to react to objects on the road quicker and control the car. If you drink then drive/ drink while driving. Alcohol affects your brain in many ways that inhibit your ability to drive. Alcohol will affect your reaction time, it slows your reflexes which decrease your ability to react to objects on the road. It affects your vision, in can impair your color perception, and night vision. It slows down the movement in the muscles in your eye causing your visual perception to change. Alcohol affects your ability to track. You will not be able to judge the position of cars ahead of you, you won’t be able to judge the
Wednesday, October 13, 2013 is a date I will never forget. On that day, time stopped for a moment. I was sixteen and only had my license for a month. I was so excited about having so much freedom, that I was driving every day, with no hesitation. I was invincible,or so I thought. This day changed my thinking completely. What started out as a normal day, quickly turned into one that was very different from any other. I had just gotten out of cheer practice and was on my way home. On the way, I realized that I needed gas, so I decided to go through South Carolina, since they have the lowest gas prices. It was not out of the way, so to say. It was just another rout home. It was not the first time I had taken this way, but, it was definitely the last.
