How would you feel if you got to sit and relax in your car while you were going somewhere but not actually having to drive? Well thanks to the advanced technology driverless cars are already in the making. People may think it is a good idea for the United States to move toward a society with driverless cars but it is not because the cars would have safety issues, the cars wouldn’t be able to go very far without help from humans and the car will be expensive.

The driverless car also would not be able to drive very far without the help of a human. The opposing states that having driverless car would improve a human’s safety in a car. According to the text, “Having a nation of commuters use these vehicles, they claim, will reduce traffic congestion and improve highway safety. This means the opposing side thinks that driverless cars will be much safer. The opposing side is wrong because the driverless car is full of safety problems. According to the text, page 3, “The software in the phones, laptops and other devices is not designed to operate for extended periods without crashing or freezing.” This means that the car could have glitches and start to freeze causing the car could to crash which could cause a dangerous environment. The text also states, “The technology used in those cars creates serious safety problems, and huge improvements must made before they can safely handle streets.” This means that the car still has problems that cause safety problems. Another safety issue the text states is, “They also have problems figuring out when objects such as bits of paper garbage are harmless so they swerve for no reason.” This means that the car would think that harmless objects are in the way causing the car to swerve out of the way which could be very
