1. Foreword
Over the last years, my interest in women’s rights has increased and I have been more and more willing to understand all of its aspects. When I had to think about a subject for my master’s thesis, I immediately thought about the theme of domestic violence in particular.
However, since I am doing multilingual communication studies, I had to find a link between that phenomenon and a communicatian-related area. That is when I thought about awareness campaigns and their impact on the increasing of domestic violence complaints. First, I will start by the theoretic part that will consist in reading books and works written on the theme of domestic violence and awareness campaigns to properly understand both elements that are crucial to this research. Another important part of the theoretic research will be the reading and understanding of the legislation of domestic violence in Belgium over the last decade to understand its evolution and its influence on the situation today.
