ocument a is about how Christopher Columbus went to discover new things he found these people and they were happy and friends and they helped him and he helped them. This Document was written in 1948 in this time period people probably didn't know much about Columbus. The purpose of this document to be written to show how Christopher Columbus was good and he helped people. He got gold to bring back to Spain to help his people. This source reflects the time period because it was a time of exploration and learning. Document c was a whole different story this document was about how Columbus killed and hurt people in brutal ways so he could take the land so he and his men made the population smaller and smaller they were really good people to they didn't do anything wrong. “These Spaniards have waged cruel and bloody wars. Then, when they have slain all those who fought for their lives or to escape torture, they enslave any survivors. Father Bartolome De Las Casas was a Dominican priest who came to the New World to convert the Indians to become Christians. He spent forty years on Hispanolia and nearby islands, and saw how the Spaniards brutally treated the Indians and sympathized with them. The Devastation of the Indies was an actual eyewitness account of the genocide by Las Casas, and his group of Dominican friars in which he demonizes the Spanish colonists and praises the Indians. Father Las Casas returned to Seville, where he published his book that caused an on going debate on whether the suppression of the Indians corrupted the Spaniards' values.
