Christianity is the religion based on the belief of one God, the life of Jesus, and the enlightenment Jesus gave to the people of Rome occupied Israel. In the religion of Christianity, its followers obtain their sense of reverence with Jesus Christ. Jesus is seen to establish the rule of God in his teaching to the people on earth. To be rewarded with the gift of salvation is the ultimate goal of all Christians. Salvation equates to the internal design of the soul's departure to heaven for eternity after death. Tensions arose in the early forming of the Roman Catholic church, in effect a separation of the church occurred, and Christian Orthodoxy was developed. “Against what they perceived to be spiritual and administrative abuses of the church, the reformer emphasised the authority of scripture...and others against that of the church hierarchy.” (Sorajjakool, 2010, pg 133). I think that this is important for healthcare professionals to know that there are many divisions in Christianity and each one worships with different theologies, the mistake would be to presume that the ritual practices and beliefs of Christians are all the same. For example, Protestant Christians, are the highest population in the United States Christian community, don’t share the same views on artificial insemination and surrogacy as Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians do, who see the practice to “...inherently violate the unitive purpose of sexual intimacy” (Sorajjakool, 2010, pg.140).
