She understands that Macbeth has a lust for the throne. However, she fears that her husband would have trouble when attempting to murder Duncan and covet the throne because she regards Macbeth as “full o’ the milk of human kindness”. Since Lady Macbeth knows that her husband would never be able to perform such a task, she decides to control the procedures of the murdering of Duncan. She demands that “direst cruelty” contaminate her. She congregates everything that is evil inside her body in order to perform the evil deed of murdering Duncan.
Chaos would not have ensued if she trusted her king to be right in his decision, just as all the townspeople and her sister Ismene did. Creon also had stated that one should not place a friend, in this case a brother, in front of one's country. One could say that Antigone is selfish in her pursuits of doing so, 2 for although Polynices was Antigone's brother, he was planning to destroy Thebes if he was victorious in overtaking it. Further evidencing this idea, Polynices also killed Antigone's other brother Eteocles who was faithful to Thebes until his death defending it. Being that this is the case, why would Creon agree to a burial of a traitor who with a foreign army invaded his homeland, killing his own brother, and would have sold his fellow countrymen into slavery?
She was the one who planned to kill the King not Macbeth because he didn 't have a good poker face, more reason why he 's a tragic hero. Macbeth wife control him through the whole plan. Macbeth didn 't want to kill the King, he was scared until his wife questioned his manhood. This is our biggest weakness as men when somebody question our men hood we just go crazy. We might know that what we are about to do is wrong, but we 'll still go through with it because we don 't want to look weak, this is actually what Macbeth did.
Who on earth alive in the midst of so much grief as I, could fail to find this death a rich reward?” (374) Antigone was willing to risk her own life for the sake of her dead brother’s pride. Creon wants Antigone to know that he has control over her. She defied him and now he has no choice but to punish her. Otherwise it would mean a bruise on his reputation as a ruler. It would prove that he was of weak character, especially since a girl went against him.
Furthermore, Macbeth himself, although clearly playing a pivotal role in the fatal act, is not entirely convinced that he should murder in order to become king and is therefore not nearly as responsible as his wife. Lady Macbeth however, manipulates her husband and convinces him to go through with the murder, even though he would have sooner not killed the king without her intervention. Lady Macbeth believes wholeheartedly that the King must die, from as soon as she is aware of the witches’ prophecy. After reading Macbeth’s letter to her, Lady Macbeth is certain that her husband “shalt be what [he] art promised”. However she also believes that her husband is “too full of the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way”.
She also asked them to thicken her blood so she would not be affected by feelings of remorse or guilt. When Macbeth arrived at the castle, he was unsure whether or not he should kill the king. When Duncan arrived, Lady Macbeth persuaded and manipulated Macbeth to go through with the murder by questioning his manhood. After Macbeth murdered Duncan, the reader begins to see that Lady Macbeth was not as cruel as she claimed to be when she said, “Had he not resembled my father as he slept, I had done ’t.... ... middle of paper ... ...the reader begins to see events where Shakespeare did not want them to judge her harshly such as her statement about how she would have killed King Duncan if it was not for his resemblance to her father, the murder of Banquo, and the loss of her sanity. In the beginning, Lady Macbeth could be described as a ruthless, cruel, and ambitious women due to the pressure she put on Macbeth, but by the end, we see that Lady Macbeth was just all talk.
Lady Macbeth is part of the driving force, but Macbeth is the main force of ambition in the play. In the beginning Lady Macbeth was forcing Macbeth to kill Duncan, but that was just the beginning. Lady Macbeth created a domino effect of killings for Macbeth. She forced him to realize that he really wanted to be king. But he pushed it too far, killing people, just so he can stay king?
Lady Macbeth is the force behind Macbeth’s sudden ambition and she tries to manipulate him into feeling guilty and unmanly for not following through with the murder, by using her husbands emotions, she manages to convince Macbeth to murder Duncan. After the death of King Duncan, Macbeth becomes the more controlling one, and Lady Macbeth’s guilt eventually becomes too much for her to handle which leads to her death. Lady Macbeth is in fact the one that performs the preparations for the murder of King Duncan, but still shows some signs of humanity by not committing the murder herself because he resembles "My father as he slept". After the murder has been committed, she also shows signs of being a strong person because she calms Macbeth down in order to keep him from going insane.
However, her feminine-like qualities eventually start showing. After setting the murder up for Macbeth, she reveals that “Had he (Duncan) not resembled my father as he slept, I had done’t” (2. 2. 16-17). Lady Macbeth says that if Duncan didn’t look like her father, she would have murdered him herself instead of having Macbeth complete the deed.
With this new desire, Macbeth did not know what to think and he wrote a letter to his wife.He told his wife everything the three witches told him. When Macbeth told his wife about it Lady Macbeth was putting ideas in his head that changed him. They simply just “unleashed a monster” though little did Macbeth know that part of his monster was attached to his wife. His wife is the motive that encourages him to what he did and that is to kill the king, Macbeth ambition to become king, led him to kill Duncan (the king). Also, the argument that Lady Macbeth use to convince Macbeth to commit the murder ,telling him to not be a coward, not to say later that he “ could have been” when he could be king. She tells him to be a man and go get what he wants….
