Red and green lights moving vividly. The smell of urine, marijuana, and beer pierced through my nostrils like a sword. It was my first house party. I saw some familiar faces among the crowd. Some people I would never have thought for them to have been there. As soon as one of my friends saw me walk into the room, she came running up to me and tried talking over the booming speakers that were next to us. "You want one?" I looked to see what she was pointing at and noticed the crystal bottle in her hand, the bubbly gold liquid was swaying inside the bottle as she moved from side to side. In that moment, I felt like I wasn’t there anymore, and I felt like I was in the living room with my dad. I remember him telling me stories about how alcohol ruined his life. The loud booming music interrupted my thoughts, so I pushed that thought out of my head and nodded.

I struggled to catch my breath. My car was somewhere near the house stuck in all the madness so I decided to walk home. It was a cold night in September, and as I began to sober up and realizing how much trouble I could have gotten in if I had gotten caught. I snuck out, went to a party, and drank.
