Bathing
Babies and children do not need to be bathed every day, a baby should be bathed only 2-3 times a day but can be washed whenever, if they do not get bathed everyday then they should get their face, neck, hands and bottom cleaned thoroughly everyday, this process is called: top and tailing. When you do bathe your child make sure the room has no draught in what so ever and it is warm so your baby is not cold or chilly. You should remember not to bath your baby after a feed or when the child is hungry or tired, and bathing your child in warm water before bed can help him/her relax and settle down before bedtime, it also gives the child a routine starting from an early age. equipment for bathing a child towel sponge soap shampoo fresh nappy clothes a toy to keep the child happy eg: rubber duck, boat etc equipment for topping and tailing a child towel bowl of water cotton wool fresh nappy clothes When you finish either washing or bathing a child make sure you wrap them up quickly to keep them warm and then dry them thoroughly and put on their nappy(if needed) then clothes. As an early years practitioner you must encourage children to bathe and wash regularly sometimes if a child does not bath them he/she can sometimes smell and get bullied.
