Derek “Frost” Westbrook is a Delta Force Operator and he is proud to be one. At 6’3, 220 pounds of pure muscle, Westbrook has been working in the United States Armed Forces for well over 20 years. At 44 years old he is battle hardened and is extremely well trained. He hops out of bed before sunrise and begins to immediately do 150 pushups and 75 pullups. This is a light workout for him, just enough to get the blood pumping and keep his mind and body ready and prepared to react to anything upon awakening.
Unlike most military members, Derek has his own flat not stationed in the base. After a quick shower and a hearty breakfast (6 eggs, cheese, bacon, toast, juice, and coffee – Delta Operators are constantly moving and a high calorie intake is vital to maintain an already trim body weight. Derek gets in his car and drives to Fort Hood, a small fort outside of Carville, North Carolina.
There’s a new Military Police (MP) on duty and he does not recognize Derek.
“Here.” Says Derek as he smiles and hands over his ID to the MP.
The MP looks at Derek, looks at the ID, and looks at Derek again. “Uhhhh... I better call this in.”
Derek chuckles quietly under his breath. He is used to this. Unlike other members of the United States Military the Army’s Delta Force is granted a lot of freedom when it comes to how they live as well as what they look like. This freedom serves many purposes: it allows the agents to blend in when on their own and it also stops them from being singled out as Operators while on mission or in public. In Derek’s case, he’s let his hair grow long in the front and has grown a long beard that goes all the way down both sides of his face. He tends to wear a baseball cap backwards and darkened sunglasses when outside of hi...

...t the media, and the city crowds, so they may enter the hotel undetected.
While getting their initial plan together, the team makes use of blueprints of the hotel to remodel the Unit’s “kill house,” a hollowed out building equipped with plywood flats that can be repositioned to create the structure of any building they are planning on infiltrating. This helps them be prepared for anything they may come across when they enter the area of importance. The kill house is only one part of the “House of Horrors” but it’s where they spend most of their time preparing to take care of business. Once the kill house is structured accordingly to the blue prints, the team drills their plan through the kill house over, and over, and over again several times before taking a short nap and doing it all again. But only this time, when they wake up... It’s going to be the real deal.
Thank you Vivian. “I will never quit. My nation expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than my enemies. If knocked down i will get back up, every time. I will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect my teammates and to accomplish our mission. I am never out of the fight.”-Marcus Luttrell. This is one of my favorite quotes about the Marcus Luttrell. Marcus Luttrell is a ex navy-seal. He is a glorified fighter that has participated in many operations and battles. But, his most famous operation was Operation Redwings. Marcus has always been a fighter. He started training for the navy seals when he was 14 with ex-army veteran Billy Shelton, survived Operation Redwings, and fought to stay alive despite his injuries he sustained in this operation.
... for Lt. Cross and sparked his drastic change in attitude. In conclusion, Jimmy’s character traits changed immensely, from several negative traits in the beginning, to ample positive traits in the end. Once he finally let go of his emotional baggage Jimmy took on his responsibility as the First Lieutenant, and began taking the necessary steps to bettering himself, along with his troops. All soldiers carry physical and emotional baggage, but how they deal with this baggage, is crucial to their overall wellbeing while in war.
“Thank you, sir. I just don’t understand what’s happening, this seems so surreal...Mr. Morris, Where is Lizzie?”
G.I. Joe, the white and brave American male soldier, was firmly the symbol of American freedom and patriotism during WWII. Meanwhile, women were encouraged to be nurses, mothers, and some were paraded around as tokens of “equality” like Rosie the Riveter and “Marinettes.” Now, the second World War has been pointed to as a turning point in women's rights. However, few Americans recognized the achievements of women and most even discouraged them. Because the many contributions of women during WWII went unnoticed, even today, Americans need to learn the sacrifices many women made while still being treated as less than a man. Only from these mistakes can the United States learn to recognize the women that serve this country on a daily basis.
“Time’s up! Let me see…” Pacing back and forth with a pressed finger against her lip, she stopped in front of the unlucky first victim. “We’ll start with you, Mr. Evans.”
The occupation of an audio engineer can encompass many different areas of music production. From recording bands in the studio, synchronizing audio to film, sound reinforcement, to even developing the latest technology in the audio field. The possibilities are broad and seemingly endless. It is a field that is constantly changing, and qualifications are always increasing. Many don’t realize the commitment, drive, hard work and dedication involved with becoming successful in the field. As well as having the patience and reserve to take the time to get the proper training and gain experience. In audio engineering learning the ropes and basics is the most important part of the job, because they become the foundation of everything that the work in based on. Once one achieves these skills the field of careers available to them can encompass many different areas of the business and society, including the military. Since the Department of Defense is so huge (and active) these days the job opportunities it provides are broad and many.
The United States Marine Corps is known as one of the worlds most elite fighting groups. Marines are looked highly upon by most people in American society. However, The Marine corps has had a rough journey since their birth date on November 10th, 1775. While the American people felt and still feel that the Marine Corps are vital in our military. Though the Marine Corps was formed originally for amphibious warfare they have proven themselves powerful “in every clime and place”. Some however feel the United States should integrate the Marine Corps into the United States Army believing that both are performing the same tasks and that having another branch is just causing the defense budget to be stretched out amongst all branches. This is one of the reasons the Marine Corps has been disbanded in the past along with peace time movements were the United States Navy was also disbanded. Even with the Marine Corps’ struggle to remain one of Americas elite fighting forces the people have always rallied behind them to keep them afloat.
The general idea of being healthy has changed in a variety of ways over the many centuries that humans have been studying anatomy. Being healthy is much more than just looking good, and the U.S. Military is a great example of this. Most military personnel do not have large muscles but they are still extremely strong and even outperform professional bodybuilders. This is because the size and strength of muscles are much more independent of one another than most would initially believe (Mettler) (Phillips).
Professionals in the United States Marine Corps stand apart from others engaged in particular careers in the civilian world. While many vocations contain some of the characteristics of professional, a lot of careers do not include all of the elements necessary to distinguish themselves as being as close to a professional as a marine. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service they have in the Marine Corps. A professional has specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through prolonged education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of professional competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the competence of such professional. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature.
Murphy’s law states that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. As someone who bears the name I can attest the truth in that statement. I have an extremely blessed life and do not endure the suffering that many people do on a daily basis. However, I have bizarre connections to small misfortunes and circumstances that follow me back as far as I can remember. Any acquaintance of mine will attest that things in my life never go as planned and anything that can happen will. Yet through a collection of misfortune, one can still find solace and benefit through their tribulation and see that negative experience could actually be positive.
Lieutenant Jimmy Cross was never the military type. He still wonders why he joined. His rank as lieutenant seems unreal. He never truly demonstrates leadership. He separates himself from the rest of the Alpha Company as he thinks about Martha.
After brutally killing two people, in cold blood, Derek was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison. In prison, there were some like him and had the same thoughts but didn't stay true to their beliefs. He wondered why did his fellow skin-heads had confrontations with others outside of the group for product and merchandise and then turned around and sell it to his own. This kind of activity puzzled Derek who later in the movie came to the realization that there is nothing wrong about talking to blacks and others. Slowly, as the months passed, in jail he started developing a new found respect for everyone no matter their color or race, he started talking to his black laundry folding partner, and stopped hanging or talking to his Nazi friends .
For the Army, he is a 15U (15 Uniform) which is a helicopter mechanic. He chose this MOS because he has always been passionate about flying and working on engines.Instead of just one weekend per month for drill, his job requires at least one day per week of training plus one weekend per month of drill, and two weeks every summer for training. A lot of long hours goes into studying his helicopter and all of the systems that make it up. “ There’s just something about engines that calms me down,” he says. His job duties include transporting cargo and Special Forces Troops from point A to point B, fly Generals to where they need to go, and sometimes they carry prisoners. “When we’re flying, it’s complete freedom. I can go wherever I want and I don’t need roads to get there,” John
...t act on its own programming. The house cannot therefore make any decisions to stop working from the humans who are already dead. The house therefore represents order in the midst of chaos; the house is the only thing that is functioning with all the things around it destroyed. It is the only thing that bears meaning despite there being total destruction after nuclearwar; it is the only place that holds to purpose despite the meaningless things happening. The house tries to fight entropy but does not win, it rubble just falls into the larger rubble of the city that is now destroyed. This symbolizes the pessimistic view of determination of humans in the search for meaning in the world (Chopin, There Will Come Soft Rains).
The number of Crossfit affiliates has risen very quickly in the past decade. The rate of increase has started to slow in America while it continues to expand quickly internationally, especially in Europe, South America, and Oceania. As kettlebells continue to gain solid footholds in the military, bases and battalions will lean towards the simplicity of kettlebells and away from the complex, expensive machines that currently fill our gyms. We as Americans have always looked towards the Russian military for training ideas; the Russian military has used kettlebells since the 1900’s. It will only take a fitness forward Admiral or General to make the necessary changes to our militaries fitness
