Overview of the Problem
Mexico’s main concern is with deforestation. Mexico has been dealing with this problem since the 1980’s and earlier. Deforestation has recently become a threat to many different countries in the world. Mexico is one of the top countries dealing with deforestation. Deforestation is the process of clearing trees in the forest to make room for modern civilization. Forests are being cleared to create shopping centers, business centers and more. There are few forests out there today without human inhabitants (Beletsky, n.d.).

Causes There is no single cause of the deforestation in Mexico, but many as a whole. Recently its problems have been getting worse due to the increase in population and economy. People are clearing land for farming purposes, human colonization, business development and more. Since they are the ones usually destroying the forest, to have them on nature's side would significantly reduce the amount of destruction. Secondly, by promoting sustainable consumer options. By buying products made of certified or recycled wood, people can help to send a message to the companies promoting deforestation. Companies promoting deforestation would either be forced out of business or forced to switch to more environmentally friendly options. The third major approach is to change the politics and laws regarding deforestation. This is the most important one because, in order to stop deforestation, the government must contribute its help. They could create and enforce laws against deforestation, promoting better alternatives to tree
