Equality can be seen as such a vague term. What does it really mean? Is being equal with all your peers a good thing? Well it depends on your definition of equality. Two definition by Merriam Webster and Cambridge Dictionary give to clear, but slightly different definitions of equality. After reading, do you think these definitions could be improved? Equality is also a quality in which most societies are reaching for, and none have succeed yet. However many have made great strides. A good example of equality in Animal Farm is when there is a discussion of who gets what resources; “the whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over you welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples” (Orwell, 52). Is it considered equality if the pigs take all the apples and milk, and because they do more work does that mean they deserve more than the other animals? This is the question the reader leaves behind. This question is one of our present day society as well. However in the situation in Animal Farm the pigs are clearly manipulating the other animals, therefore that concludes that all the animals are not getting an equal opportunity to use the resources as the …show more content…

There are many different opinions on it. Is it equal if more work pays more, or is it equal if all levels of work pay the same? It is always debated. People today are still striving for equality, if this is equality between men and women, or homosexuals and heterosexuals. Recent years have shown a major improvement as Barack Obama has made great strives to create equality for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual) community in the United States. Racial inequality is still a problem in most countries. In my opinion society will never reach complete equality, due to the everlasting disagreement on what the outcome of equality
