1. Source B reveals that the tactics used by the Chinese and North Korean troops were that they would disguise themselves and then mingle among the South Korean refugees, with weapons underneath their clothing. 2. The challenges that were faced by the Australian soldiers during the Korean War include the mountainous and densely wooded terrain, the hot and humid summers, the bitterly cold winters and the lack of food. 3. The conclusions that can be made from Source E about the experiences of Australian POW’s are that they were treated very badly by the Chinese, they were forced to stand in a little cell for hours on end and were beaten by the guards, the source supports this by stating “his men beat us with their rifle butts until we were unconscious.” As well as this, it can be concluded that the hygiene in the POW camps must have been of a poor standard, as the source states that all the prisoners had dysentery. 4. …show more content…

Source F supports Source E to some extent. Both sources include the brutality that went on in the Prisoner of War camps, with Source E states how the POW’s were beaten until they were unconscious, whilst Source F states how the “pilots were beaten and punched.” Source F states how the pilots were interrogated by the North Koreans, whilst Source E does not mention any interrogation. In both sources, Australian POW’s were placed in holes in the ground and were forced to stay in them for extended periods of time. In Source E, it states that prisoners had to write a confession after spending time in the “Sweat Box,” whilst Source F has no mention of
