The African culture were changed by trade which created cultural diffusion. The african culture was changed by the Europeans that they traded with, this is cultural diffusion. Cultural diffusion is the movement of seen and unseen characteristics of culture between two or more societies.
The Kongo kingdom was on the western coast of central Africa. This created trade along the Atlantic ocean. This created trade with the Portuguese which created cultural diffusion. Trading with the Portuguese changed the religion in the Kongo kingdom. The Kongo kingdom traded many goods with the Portuguese and The Asians. The Swahili city states experience cultural diffusion by trading with the Middle East, East Africa and Asia. When trading with the Arab people they influenced the Swahili city states in many ways. When trading the people of the Arb has a great impact on what the Swahili city states did. The Swahili city states had a very good relationship with the Arab, they made the religion of Islam more common in the Swahili city states. Next, when trading the Swahili city states developed a language from whom they traded with, this is cultural diffusion. Trading with the Arabs, Africans, and Persians on the coast caused many different languages to be blended together into one Swahili language, this is cultural diffusion. To conclude, the Swahili city states experienced cultural diffusion because of where they were located. They changed and adapted some cultures of who they traded with.
To summarize, as you can see the Kongo kingdom and the Swahili city states were impacted by cultural diffusion because of trade. When trading with other places the area experiencing cultural diffusion develops different aspects of culture and begin to change. It is the cultural diffusion that changed the Kongo kingdom and Swahili
