Each city has its own culture and their society where people live differently based on environment they are in. Some cities do not consider themselves as global superpower while others do. Also, people are the primary function of society to cities.

Flustry concluded in his article about four main cultural artifacts in the global urban system. The artifacts are cloisonné lapel pin, lego bricks, tasbeh, and mirror. Each object represented the perspective of world cities and their culture differently based on society of people living in a city. Cloisonne lapel pin described as cities evolved over time and symbolized as world class or known as alpha (or delta). People often used transportations (cars, trucks, airplanes, boats etc.) for travel around the world or regions for many reasons. Some people use car to drive to work while others travel in planes to other country for business trip or on vacation. Thirdly, Tasbeh represent the symbol of cities with global centers. While New York, London, and Tokyo are largest global centers secured on alpha status level, there are some other smaller cities did not belong to the same level as they are not consideras part of economic power. Al Madinah is one of cities that did not belong to alpha or delta but in beta or gamma status. Even Al Madinah have skyscrapers and numerous of corporate offices within business districts. Each city have varying resources based on number of sectors they have and still did not consider same level as other largest metropolitans. For example, New York and London are well-known powerful cities with millions of people living there and control many of economic sectors. Lastly, mirror referred to the society as whole in which Flustry pointed out people are actually city makers which they are responsible to operate the city.
