Critical Thinking and Ethical Reasoning
Everyone in the world has had an issue or dilemma in which it required them to evaluate their morals and think critically about the situation. Thinking altogether occurs daily. But the process of thinking all by its self can create negative outcomes or opinions. For Instance, someone may think about an issue and think about the possible solutions but they completely neglect the ethical aspect of the possible outcome. When thinking critically, it is important to evaluate the moral and ethical aspects.

The first step in the critical thinking process is knowledge. Knowledge requires a person to be able to seek out what exactly is being said by the author such as the topic, the issues, the main points, etc. The second step in the critical thinking process is comprehension. Comprehension means to be able to understand what exactly is being read, heard or seen. To fully comprehend the new information that was learned in the knowledge step, you should take that acquired information and relate it to your previous knowledge. Comprehension of information will be a much easier task when new knowledge gained can be directly related to what you already know. The third step in the critical thinking process is application. Knowing what was read or heard, being able to comprehend it and physically apply it to a real-life situation is what application requires you to do. The fourth step in the critical thinking process is analysis. Analysis requires you to break down the information acquired into sections and analyze its order and how the information is related and connected to different ideas. The fifth step in the critical thinking process is synthesis. Synthesis means to be able to piece together the information analyzed, combining it with other, related, information to manufacture an original piece of information. Almost all of actions are based on whether it is right or wrong, whether it is just or not. As I stated above in the summary for the Ethics Game, I do look to help myself before others. But, if I am faced with a situation where helping others may not benefit me directly but it is the absolute right thing to do, sure I will do in my power to do it. I enjoy helping others all the time. But there will come a time when I have a need to focus on myself first before someone else. And when that time comes, I am sure I will not be able to help them to the best of my ability. Ethical reasoning is used almost every day, whether it be in a professional setting or in a societal setting. Doctors, lawyers, police officers and people of the sort all apply ethical reasoning to their daily lives whether it be in a professional setting or a personal
