The Berenstain Bears Go To School is a children's book about the importance of school and how it can actually be enjoyable. In the story the main characters are Mama bear who is kind, compassionate and loving. Papa Bear who is the breadwinner in the family. Then they’re Brother Bear and Sister Bear, Brother Bear is the older of the two and he is often times outgoing and excited, while Sister Bear is shy and more reserved. At the beginning of the story summer is coming to a close and school is on the horizon. Seeing as Brother Bear is the oldest sibling, this isn’t his first year of school. On the other hand, Sister Bear is just about to begin kindergarten. She is nervous about school and doesn’t know what to expect so she keeps asking Mama Bear what school is going to be like. Once the big day comes Brother Bear is virtually dragging Sister Bear onto the school bus. When the Little Bears come home, Sister Bear realizes she enjoys school quite a lot. Then it is time to get on the bus again the next day, ironically, Sister Bear is dragging Brother Bear onto the bus for school and by the end of the day he enjoys school just like Sister Bear. She is stressing out and worried about not liking school. Sister Bear very much enjoyed being home all the time and with her parents and brother. At home she could read books play with her toys and hang out with her friends, at school she didn't think she could do any of that. “What will school be like Mama?’ She asked at bedtime. ‘You’ll find out tomorrow’ Said Mama as she tucked Sister in and kissed her goodnight.” Mama Bear tells Sister Bear that school will be fun and has nothing to worry about, she wants the best for her daughter.
