Music is a part of life, and people can listen to music in many places such as restaurants, shops, and super markets. Computer technology has been developed in several decades, and it is easy for music consumers to access some music platforms such as YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify. In particular, a large number of music videos have been uploaded on YouTube, so it seems that the way of consuming music changes with times. However, there are some controversies between YouTube and the music industry. They have been discussing about the YouTube’s financial contribution to the music industry, labels and musicians, and the regulation of unauthorized music videos. There are two sides discussing about this issue: one side supports the conventional policy of YouTube and another side promotes to change the policy of YouTube. One of the side of this controversy is the group who supports the regular policy of YouTube. This position has drawn many supporters for a few main reasons, and one of them is that artists and record companies can earn money according to advertisements. According to YouTube (2010), Content ID enables people who have a copyright to choose whether and how their work is shown on YouTube. “Copyright holders give YouTube copies of their audio recording and videos that they want to look for on YouTube.” YouTube refers the file to their database every time, and they will ask the copyright holders to block or earn money from it if they find the video which is matched with the file given by the copyright holders (YouTube, 2010).
