The Continued Interest Letter
Georgetown University is my all-time dream school and top choice. From late April to June first, I waited patiently. I know among the 2,000 competitors it is extremely difficult to stand out. However, I am also confident about my quality as a rising sophomore transfer student. Thus, a waitlist is reasonable for me. I would like to be considered for both Fall and Spring admission.
To be qualified as a Georgetown student, I have done various exercises. Last year as a first-year applicant, I received a rejection. Although it is bitter to bear the failure, I admit that I was not outstanding enough to be accepted. However, I have improved myself significantly this year. My freshman year overall GPA is 3.97. Thus, I realized that the long summer break is a excellent chance for me to learn outside of school. This summer, I went back to China. In the second week of break, I received an offer from the International Financial Center of M-Grass company. It is an extraordinary chance for me to learn the current Chinese economic environment. Our department’s mission is to finance the company. We utilized various financial tools to achieve this mission. Recently, my colleague and I are trying to issue USD bonds in Hong Kong and Singapore. During the internship, I found out that most of my knowledge from class explained real life problems. For instance, to issue USD bonds, both issuer and investor have to be cautious of the Fed’s monetary policies. The Fed raised the key interest recently. With a rising FFR, the money supply will decrease, and the par value of bonds will increase. Thus, the investors will require more interest in return to counteract the risk of higher bonds’ par value. This is the first time that I used the class knowledge to explain real life problem.
