Comparing Aristotle And Virtue Theories

My commentary for today is going to be on Aristotle and virtue theory.
I agree with Aristotle and virtue theory. The virtue theory is all about being the right amount of good. It is about being a moral person. Aristotle said that if we focus on being good people, the right actions will follow. Aristotle basically said that everyone should become a good person. He also said that everything has a purpose and because of nature humans have the purpose of being good. I agree with this idea because I identify with it. Like Aristotle said, I want to be a good person and do good things. My opinion is that Aristotle was right with this concept because most of the people I know also want to be good people and do good things. Coming from this idea, I have also seen many people trying to be good people or virtuous and they end up doing the wrong thing. I think this happens because some people are not virtuous and those who are virtuous are because that is their nature. My opinion about reaching this middle point is that it makes sense and it is possible to exercise. For example a virtue is to be courageous. We have to reach the middle point of courageous. If you see an old lady being robbed, one first thought is to stop the robber. However, Aristotle argues that we should first examine the situation and then act. What if the robber is way bigger and/or has a gun? Stopping the robber anyway would not be what Aristotle says to do. Instead, we should call the police for help. This is the middle point of courageous. I agree with this concept because it proposes that one should be cautious and smart about their actions. That to me is being virtuous because thinking about the consequences of your actions keeps you from doing non-virtuous things and I think that it is necessary and everybody should do
